About Me
An Artist and a scholar : My work tends to focus on the evolution of man and the way human kind impacts on the natural environment .My past projects have focused on the objects that man casts aside ,objects which litter the beaches and hedgerows casting an ugly glow on the natural beauty of the world. My current works fixate on the manipulation of natural materials by man to create useable resources. Within these works I have sought to transform such materials back into a simulation of natural forms in an abstract artistic impressionist construct . I didn't set out to be an environmental artist but found myself captivated not by the work of others but by nature its self, the intricate detail that mother nature manages to capture within each object and life no matter how big or small ; the way that nature grows and evolves to fit a certain environment. I think of my works as unfinished fragments of a body of work and am unsure as to when I will see them as truly complete.
As an artist I feel that today's society is one of a 'throw away' philosophy , with more and more products being created by man that work on the ethos of use once then dispose of , very few items seem to be made to last . Humanity holds a multifaceted relationship with mother nature trying to preserve its beauty whilst also destroying it through the creation of objects both out of natural resources and out on non biodegradable substances . I'd like to Re-envision our relationship with nature, proposing new ways for us to co-exist with our environment even if this analogy only stretches to the borders of my work .
