Ashes To Ashes

The controlled burning of a former sculpture initially created to represent the crudeness of man's replication of naturally created forms.

The burning of the piece is symbolic of the fragility of nature and the ease of which man can cause damage .

Tree's specifically can be seen to hold many diffident symbolic properties :

Aside from the symbolic means trees also :

Trees are part of a key eco system that essentially help us to live and breathe through the production of oxygen during their food production cycle , better known as photosynthesis (they are effectively the lungs of the environment) , this process requires carbon dioxide and thus is known reduce the effects of global warming , effectively counteracting the damage man has caused. Further dead trees that get buried in soil eventually provide fossil fuels like coal, gasoline products, etc which we would struggle to live without .

Trees also provide a home for a diverse array of different kinds of animals and insects and are known to be the largest and longest living organisms on earth and to grow tall the tree has become a miracle of engineering and a complex chemical factory. It is able to take water and salts out of the earth and lift them up to the leaves, sometimes over 400 ft above; a feat which man would struggle to recreate.

And yet everyday we destroy the environment through our unthinking actions

The finial work will be displayed along side the burnt remnants of the 'tree' .
